Certificate, diploma, degree or title issued – or accredited – by a sector at national or international level, on the basis of standards (e.g. entry requirements, learning content, learning outcomes, validation, certification) relevant to a sector of economic activity.

- Sectoral qualifications are issued in a broad range of sectors and professions (e.g. accounting, air and maritime transport, building, banking and finance, hospitality, ICT, insurance, hairdressing, health and social services, language teaching, sports and leisure, welding);
- they are sometimes mandatory to access specific occupations (regulated professions);
- sectoral qualifications can be integrated in a sectoral, national or international qualifications framework.
