Learning carried out in the initial VET system – usually before entering working life – to acquire skills and competences leading to a specific occupation or job.
Comment
- Initial vocational education and training can be carried out at secondary, post-secondary or tertiary level, in vocational education (full-time school-based or alternance training) or in apprenticeship;
- it leads to a vocational qualification;
- vocational education and training undertaken after entry into working life may be considered as initial training (such as retraining / reskilling).
