The Timeline of VET policies in Europe is a valuable source of information on about 1 000 policies and practices in vocational education and training (VET) and lifelong learning in the European Union, Iceland and Norway.

Policy-makers, analysts and practitioners in VET and lifelong learning can explore national initiative strategies, action plans, legal acts, regulations and practical measures on various themes related to the VET priorities, as they were expressed in the Council Recommendation on VET and the Osnabrück Declaration.

Cedefop identified the needs of policy-makers and stakeholders in a pan-European ex-ante evaluation that preceded the development of the timeline.

The timeline presents policies and practices in a way that allows observing how they developed from design through implementation to completion over time. The information is structured and allows:

  • browsing by country, theme and target group;
  • filtering information using different criteria;
  • generating downloadable reports;
  • sharing content on social media.

Cedefop collects the data with the support of ReferNet, its network of expertise in VET across Europe, representing all Member States, Iceland and Norway. ReferNet national partners also contributed to Cedefop’s designing and piloting the tool.

Stay tuned – the Timeline of VET policies in Europe will be updated annually.
