The conference ‘Embedding entrepreneurship competence in vocational education and training in Europe’ aimed to bring together stakeholders from vocational education and training (VET), including training providers, policy-makers, social partners, and researchers. Its objectives included promoting a focused debate on entrepreneurship competence in European VET, examining factors enabling and hindering its integration, and sharing best practices for enhancing VET entrepreneurial learning ecosystems.

Programme outline

The conference keynote address explored the significance of, and strategies for, embedding entrepreneurship in VET. Insights from eight case studies conducted in Spain, France, Croatia, Italy, Latvia, Austria, Sweden, and Finland were also presented. These shed light on the complexities and challenges faced in integrating entrepreneurship competence in Europe.

Interactive parallel breakout sessions provided a platform for engaging debates, thoughtful reflection, and collective learning. These sessions were designed around paradoxes identified, and aimed at encouraging participants to question assumptions, reconsider methods, and reshape their understanding of entrepreneurship in the VET context.

A panel discussion synthesised the outcomes of the parallel sessions, sharing key findings, lessons learned, and inspiring practices. This discussion aimed to promote a comprehensive understanding of embedding entrepreneurship competence in VET.

The conference concluded with a reflective session outlining the day's discussions and highlighting the path forward. Participants had an opportunity to share their key takeaways and needs for future research, ensuring the continuous advancement of entrepreneurship competence in VET.
