The final conference of the Orienta4YEL Project took place in a hybrid modality on 27 May 2022. Its purpose was to discuss the findings from the Orienta4YEL Project focusing on how to tackle early school leaving through 'orientation' and 'tutorial actions'.

The conference was specially addressed to teachers, trainers, parents, students, academics, researchers, policymakers, NGOs representatives and experts in the field of early school leaving.

The conference helped raise awareness regarding achievements to prevent and reduce early school leaving in the context of the Orienta4YEL project. The event helped provide guidance for the educational institutions with initiatives aimed at identifying young people at risk of dropping out of school with the aim of prevention.

The conference pursued three specific objectives:

  • share mechanisms of orientation (understood as learner orientation and guidance process), and tutorial actions that are understood as innovative methods and practices to promote inclusive education and training and foster the education of young people at risk of early school leaving;
  • present the strategies for the action which have been designed in the context of the Orienta4YEL project according to a previous diagnostic, to support educational institutions on their task of preventing young people’s risk of early leaving in each one of their specific contexts;
  • analyse and discuss the reality and perspectives of early school leaving in Europe, and promote the exchange of experiences and best practices on preventive and intervention measures to reduce (risk of) early school leaving.

Cedefop's Irene Psifidou presented the conference keynote speech "Preventing early leaving from VET: the European pledge by 2030".
