Description

This Catalogue is the result of fieldwork carried out by all MiH partners, who contacted directly organisations (e.g. companies, schools, associations, public bodies) involved in mobility projects and activities aimed at people with disabilities. Such organisations have a common goal: they are committed to making the experience of studying or working abroad accessible to all, following an inclusive approach.

The process followed by MiH partners to select best practices for the Catalogue was built around the following criteria:

  • they had to be recent activities/projects (from 2018 onwards);
  • they had to be international mobility activities for people with disabilities;
  • MiH partners did not participate directly as promoters of such practices.

For each best practice, the Catalogue provides the same type of information to ensure consistency of contents and an improved reading experience:

  • description of the mobility practice (general information about the organisation and the project or activity);
  • pictures illustrating the project/activity;
  • testimonies provided by the ones involved in the project/activity.

As the practices selected to be part of the Catalogue must also be relevant for the purposes of MAKE IT HAPPEN project, partners explain how each practice is inspiring and how it can contribute to the development of the project’s expected results, i.e., the Mobility Commitment Chart, Design and implementation of MiH Methodology, MiH Network and MiH Promotional Toolkit.

Furthermore, the MAKE IT HAPPEN Catalogue of Inspiring Practices on Inclusive Mobilities provides a Glossary of terms and definitions used throughout the document.

It is currently publicly available at MiH project website - https://makeithappen.education/our-results/.

Beneficiaries

The MAKE IT HAPPEN Catalogue is also aimed at hosting, receiving and intermediary organisations involved in international mobility activities aimed at people with disabilities across the EU, both internal and external to MiH project.

Its target group includes all those who will implement the initiative/ practice, e.g. VET teachers or trainers who work with students with complex needs including disabilities and migrant background, who are either at risk of dropping out or have already dropped out of VET.

Education level and sector

No specific education levels and sectors are addressed by the Catalogue. The best practices it contains can be transferred to all levels and sectors, including VET, depending on the scope of the organisations that choose to use them.

Type of policy/initiative

Intervention

Stage of implementation

The Catalogue was developed in the context of MAKE IT HAPPEN (2022-1-FR01-KA220-VET-000089986), a two-year project implemented between 2022 and 2024.
This project addresses the need to ensure innovative solutions that promote mobility opportunities among vocational education and training students and other learners with disabilities.

Aims of policy/initiative

The Catalogue of Inspiring Practices on Inclusive Mobilities aims to provide the necessary information that allows for the replication of the mobility activities it describes.
Moreover, it is intended to expand the MiH community and to allow project partners to discover new realities and projects that can inspire them.

Features and types of activities implemented

The Catalogue provides a visual description of the practices it entails, and links that allow readers to access more specific information about the practices and the organisations implementing them.
Most of the best practices that are part of the Catalogue are projects funded by Erasmus+ programme aimed at promoting mobility of learners with disabilities, in line with MiH project aims.

Resources

The Catalogue was developed in the scope of MAKE IT HAPPEN project (2022-1-FR01-KA220-VET-000089986), funded by Erasmus+ programme.
This project has a duration of 2 years (2022 – 2024).

Evaluation of the measure

The Catalogue was evaluated internally by the MiH project partners to ensure it complied with the main purposes of the project. Qualitative and quantitative indicators set in the project were used for the evaluation.

Evidence of effectiveness of the measure

By replicating the best practices described in the MAKE IT HAPPEN Catalogue of Inspiring Practices on Inclusive Mobilities, VET providers and other organisations working in the field will be able to increase the number of learners with disabilities participating in learning mobilities abroad; this is expected to have a positive impact later on their active participation in society and on their integration into the labour market.

Success factors

The MAKE IT HAPPEN Catalogue of Inspiring Practices on Inclusive Mobilities includes the following innovative elements:

  • the practices described in the Catalogue are implemented by organisations/institutions with a long experience in mobility activities for learners with disabilities;
  • the practices are recent and, therefore, aligned with current needs and pedagogical approaches;
  • the Catalogue provides first-hand information/perspective about the added-value of each practice for its target group(s);
  • for each practice, the Catalogue provides important links and explanations that allow for its full replication;
  • the Catalogue is available for free to all of those working in hosting, receiving and intermediary organisations, and to the general public, at the MiH website (https://makeithappen.education/).

    Catalogue of inspiring practices on inclusive mobilities

    In order to understand the reason why we decided to collect those mobility experiences among learners with disabilities into a catalogue and how the inspiring practices selected are relevant to the Make It Happen (MIH) project, let us now clarify the aim of this work.

    In this catalogue we have identified 10 inspiring practices in line with the MIH project's aims and in some way relevant to the MIH partners.
