Cedefop offers paid traineeships to talented and highly qualified professionals at the start of their careers. It is an opportunity for them to have their first work experience related to their field of specialisation in a European organisation.

There is one annual intake, normally from October to July, which lasts up to 12 months.

Who can apply?

  • Nationality: Citizens of EU Member States, Candidate Countries, or EFTA.
  • Education: Graduates who have completed university studies of at least 3 years (minimum EQF 6 level). A diploma or an official certificate from the university confirming that the degree has been awarded is necessary to be eligible to apply. Trainees may be required to hold a specific educational qualification.
  • Language: At least C1 level of English language in all dimensions as per the CEFR. For nationals of EU Member States only, at least C1 level of another EU official language (which can be the mother tongue) in all dimensions as per the CEFR.

Who can't apply?

  • Applicants who do not meet the requirements in the paragraph above by the closing day of the traineeship notice.
  • Candidates who have already benefited, for more than 6 weeks, from any kind of paid/unpaid traineeship or employment within an EU institution/body/agency/office.

How to apply?

Online application: Applications must be submitted through the online tool (OLEEO) via the 'Vacancies' webpage. It is advisable to submit applications well ahead of the deadline in order to avoid possible problems approaching the closing date.

  • The online application must be completed in English.
  • Once an application has been successfully submitted, the applicant will receive an automatic acknowledgement e-mail.
  • Applications sent by e-mail/post, will be rejected.
  • Due to the large number of applications received, Cedefop will send an automatic notification about the outcome of the procedure to all candidates, at the end of the process, but will not answer individual queries.

Supporting documents - Online applications must be accompanied by:

  • a CV in English (preferably using Europass).
  • a copy of the required university degree (if issued in any of the official EU languages, translation is not requested). Masters, PhD, language certificates may be included in the attachment for information.

Grant

Trainees are awarded a monthly maintenance grant. The amount, revised on a regular basis, is currently as follows:

  • EUR 1,238.08 per month for trainees from abroad, as well as trainees residing in Greece and living more than 50 km from Thessaloniki.
  • EUR 928.56 per month for trainees residing in Thessaloniki prior to the start of their traineeship.
