Dataset: | Cedefop Labour and Skills Shortage Index (CLSSI) (2024) |
Publication: | Briefing note - Cedefop labour and skills shortage index |
Discover the Cedefop Labour and Skills Shortage Index, a new web tool designed to analyse and address future workforce challenges. The index focuses on three pillars driving labour shortages: demand, where high-growth occupations may outpace skill provision; supply, highlighting replacement needs as workers retire or change careers; and imbalances, identifying mismatches between job qualifications and requirements. By understanding these dynamics, the tool equips stakeholders to tackle skill gaps, improve productivity, and support economic resilience.
Powered by the 2025 Cedefop Skills Forecast, it offers detailed insights into future labour market trends. Users can explore ISCO two-digit occupations grouped by skill level, filter data by country, or compare labour and skill shortages between two countries. Each occupation’s shortage is ranked from 1 to 4, with 1 indicating no shortage or surplus and 4 indicating an intense shortage, making it an invaluable resource for targeted workforce planning and policy development.
