Der Bildungsstand junger Menschen wird berechnet, indem die Anzahl der Jungen, die dieses Bildungsniveau erreichen (Zähler), durch die Gesamtbevölkerung der Altersgruppe der 20- bis 24-Jährigen (Nenner) dividiert wird.

Le nniveau d’éducation des jeunes est calculé en divisant le nombre de jeunes qui atteignent ce niveau d'études (numérateur) par la population totale de la tranche d'âge 20-24 ans (dénominateur).

Percentage of people in the age group 15 to 24 compared to the total labour force – both employed and unemployed – in that age group.
- A large share of people between these ages are outside the labour market – many are studying full time and thus are not available for work – which explains why youth unemployment rates are generally higher than overall unemployment rates, or those of other age groups;
- for this reason, the term ‘youth unemployment ratio’ is often used (percentage of unemployed young people compared to the total population of that age group – not only the active, but also the inactive such as students);
- this term is therefore close to, but not synonymous with: youth employment ratio.

Anteil der Arbeitslosen in der Altersgruppe 15 bis 24, bezogen auf die Gesamtheit der Erwerbspersonen – Erwerbstätige und Arbeitslose – in dieser Altersgruppe.
- Ein großer Teil der Personen in dieser Altersgruppe steht dem Arbeitsmarkt nicht zur Verfügung, da viele Vollzeitschüler bzw. -studierende sind und daher keiner Erwerbstätigkeit nachgehen. Dies erklärt, weshalb die Jugendarbeitslosenquoten generell über den Gesamtarbeitslosenquoten und über denen anderer Altersgruppen liegen;
- aus diesem Grund wird häufig der Begriff ‚Jugendarbeitslosenanteil‘ verwendet (Anteil der arbeitslosen Jugendlichen im Vergleich zur Gesamtbevölkerung dieser Altersgruppe – nicht nur die aktiven, sondern auch die inaktiven wie Studierende);
- dieser Begriff ist verwandt, aber nicht synonym mit: Jugendarbeitslosenrate / Anteil der erwerbslosen jungen Menschen an der gleichaltrigen Bevölkerung.

- Une grande partie des personnes de cette catégorie d’âge se trouvent en dehors du marché du travail – beaucoup de jeunes poursuivant des études à temps plein et n’étant donc pas disponibles sur le marché du travail. Cela explique le taux généralement plus élevé du chômage des jeunes par rapport au taux total de chômage ou au taux de chômage d’autres catégories d’âge;
- pour cette raison, le terme « ratio de chômage des jeunes » est souvent utilisé (pourcentage de jeunes au chômage par rapport à la population totale de ce groupe d'âge – non seulement les actifs, mais aussi les inactifs comme les étudiant(e)s);
- ce terme est donc proche, mais non synonyme, de: ratio de chômage des jeunes.
